Southern Railway, in its present form, came into existence on 14th April 1951 through the merger of the three state railways namely Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway, and the Mysore state railway.Southern Railway's present network extends over a large area of India's Southern Peninsula, covering the states of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Pondicherry,and a small portion of Andhra Pradesh. Serving these naturally plentiful and culturally rich southern states, the SR extends from Mangalore on the west coast and Kanniyakumari in the south to Renigunta in the North West and Gudur in the North East.Headquartered at Chennai, the Southern Railway comprises of the following six divisions.Chennai,Tiruchirapalli,Madurai,Palghat,Trivandrum, Southern Railway has released an employment notification of the Southern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2022 on its official website https://sr.indianrailways.gov.in/. 1. Fitter, Painter & Welder
– Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 System of education or its equivalent.
2. Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology )- Should have passed 12th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

3. Fitter, Machinist, MMV, Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Carpenter, Painter, Welder(G&E), Wireman, Advance Welder & R&AC
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
4. Electrician- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks)under 10 +2 System of education with Science as one of the subjects or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
5. Electronics Mechanic- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education with Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
6. PASAA- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education & National Trade Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training in “Computer Operator and Programming Assistant”
7. Minimum Academic /Technical Qualification as per the Apprentices Act, 1961- a) Must have passed 10th class examination under 10 +2 system or its equivalent with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. For the calculation of percentage of matriculation, the marks obtained by the candidates in all subjects will be reckoned and not on the basis of marks of any subject or group of subjects like best of five etc. The candidates from Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh, Board of Public Examination, Kerala etc, Administration will take midpoint of range of grades obtained by the candidates. After obtaining midpoints of all the attempted subjects according to grades awarded, average will be calculated treating each subject is out of 100 marks as there is no standard method or multiplying factor for calculation of average of matriculation for such Boards.b) Must have passed ITI Course in relevant trades from a recognized institution. For the calculation of percentage of ITI marks, the average marks mentioned in consolidate statement of marks of all semesters of the trade applied/Marks mentioned in the provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT will only be reckoned.

Age Limit
The candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should NOT have completed 22/24 years for Freshers/Ex-ITI, MLT respectively.ii) The Upper age is relaxable upto 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 Years for Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).
